System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException exception on running a new project created using angular 2 template #857

I followed the steps below to create an angular 2 application.

npm install -g yo generator-aspnetcore-spa
npm install -g webpack
cd some-empty-directory
yo aspnetcore-spa

I then tried to run it by executing
dotnet run

But I'm getting the below exception
